A Blogger Date with "Fashion To The Nine" [Part I]

Hello all,
Today I enjoyed my first blogger date with the very lovely Luvania, one of the two fashionistas from the blog Fashion To The Nine. I must say that I wish I could have done one much sooner! After getting to know each other better over brunch (we know each other from school and through a few mutual acquaintances), we were soon laughing our heads off over common fashion blogger mishaps, Coquitlam high school memories, and other fun topics. After all, who other than a fellow blogger would understand just how hard it is to take one good picture of a manicure or "arm candy"?
I've always admired Luvania's very classy yet edgy style and was more than happy to take some outfit pictures with her. Check back on Thursday for an accompanying post on Luvania's outfit!
Also, later this month I will be able to meet up with the full cast of Fashion To The Nine when the ever-stylish Fatima, who now lives in Toronto, comes back to visit Vancouver. Stay posted for some awesome blog posts when that happens!

Blouse: Zara // Skirt: Thrifted // Cardigan: Urban Planet // Necklace: The Hudson Bay Company // Bracelets: Aldo, American Eagle Outfitters, Forever 21 // Ring: Forever 21 // Sandals: Steve Madden // Bag: Nine West // Sunglasses: Material Girl

In regard to this outfit, I was so happy to finally be able to wear my maxi skirts once again. This brocade number was one lucky thrift-store find I made last summer and I always enjoy wearing it for its easy-breezy style and comfort. What are some summer items that you've been looking forward to taking out of the closet?

Pencil Skirt Smarts

Blazer: Dynamite // Shirt: Forever 21 // Skirt: Suzy Shier // Necklace: Joe Fresh // Booties: FFeF // Sunglasses: Material Girl // Tights: Urban Planet
(Playing with some random yarn hearts in front of a crafts and yarn store.)

Happy Sunday everyone,
I'm hoping for more sunshine tomorrow as I have a full day planned for downtown. Seawall biking, good food, shopping and possibly a movie are all in the works. God bless the summer (break) time.
In today's outfit, my pencil skirt got a rare appearance. I must say that I don't like it nearly as much as I did when I first bought it (something that happens all too often) and I will be looking for a skirt that is much more interesting in style and suitable in fit (too baggy!).

Friday Prep

Blouse: J. Crew // Sweater: Nordstrom Rack // Necklace: Hudson Bay Company // Leggings: Urban Planet // Shoes: Singaporean boutique // Clutch: vintage

Happy Friday everyone,
I'm excited to go bowling tonight for the first time in a really long time. Since it's quite overcast today weather-wise, I needed to wear something comfortable and somewhat warm. Layering this light sweater over my super lightweight silk blouse was the perfect combo! Wish me luck, I'm gonna try to get my fair share of strikes and spares! ;)

Summer Shorts Fantasy

Draped blazer and shoes: H&M // Blouse: Club Monaco // Shorts: Topshop // Bracelets: vintage and Forever 21 // Sunglasses: Material Girl // Belt: Dynamite // Ring: Aldo
(Trying out the inevitable 'hobo chic' sidewalk pose.)

Hello everyone,
Enjoying that sizzling Wednesday weather yet? So far, my first week of freedom has consisted of long brunch and beach side walks with good friends, watching a LOT of movies online (thanks Netflix), and a teensy bit of shopping. I've been trying to curb the spending since I am going to San Francisco in a week! The excitement is there but the nearness of the event hasn't truly sunk in yet. It probably won't do so until I'm actually at the airport.
Anywho, I recently bought this blazer on sale at H&M after falling in love with its print pattern and relaxed draped design- perfect lightweight outerwear for this warm weather! As well, I decided to wear these Topshop shorts that are oh-so-cute but also very short and extremely wrinkle-prone. To top things off, I wore my newest pair of sunnies from Material Girl- the ever popular cat-eye trend. While I was about to buy a much more expensive brand, I decided to go for this much more affordable piece instead since I believe that buying into a brand won't necessarily make you look better. Therefore, when I saw how well these sunglasses fit me (which is a rare thing), I was immediately sold.
Other than the clothes, food, sunshine, and friendships that I've been relishing since my very last exam a week ago, I also completed my third Sun Run race on Sunday. While I got a decent time (47 minutes 43 seconds) for the 10 km run, I was not very happy with myself since I had been hoping to beat my personal best of 45:06 that I had made last year. I know it was entirely my fault since I had not been running nearly as much as I should have been over the last few months. And after the race, I've been suffering from some random foot injuries to boot... Oh well, there is always next year to improve!
Go out and enjoy this amazing summer weather while you can folks!

A Frenzy of Faux Leather

Dynamite blazer // Express skirt // shirt taken from brother // necklace from the Hudson Bay Company // Bracelets: Aldo // Material Girl heels
Happy Friday everyone!
This weekend marks the first week of freedom from school and I'm planning to enjoy it to the fullest. Today's outfit went a little heavy on the faux leather, I paired this skirt with the faux leather trimming with the faux-leather-sleeved blazer. Recently, I had been eyeing a genuine leather skirt that was $129 on sale, so in the interest of saving my wallet I decided to settle for this $50 skirt from Express instead. I feel that leather or vegan leather always lends some easy 'cool' into your ensemble and here was no exception. Now I have to force myself to avoid everything leather or faux leather; even I know when too much is too much!

Post-Examination Retail Therapy

 Vince Camuto heels
My latest lip colour obsession: reddish orange. Also, trying out the Sephora brand gel-liner.
A Touch of Faux Leather
Pleated and Striped: The A-Line Skirt I've been searching for.

Today I went on bit of a shopping spree downtown after finishing my first of two final exams. After venturing for the first time into the store Express, I walked out with a pair of very cute skirts. One indulged my obsession over faux leather and the other was too cute to ignore with its stripes and pleats. As well, I bought a new lip colour for the spring/summer seasons: reddish orange. Can't wait to rock this shade! Last but not least, I bought these lovely but comfortable Vince Camuto heels that will be perfect for the partying that will be taking place after exams are over! ;)

Bespectacled Brights

H&M blazer and coat // American Eagle floral denim // ShoeMint heels // Blouse from boutique on Main St. // Vintage earrings // Bracelets: vintage, American Eagle, & Forever 21// BCBGeneration clutch
Hello everyone,
We have made it to yet another Sunday! The sun is shining and the more serious university students are studying (check out that alliteration...). For the past two days of work, my workload has been as follows: schoolwork/studying (90%), actual work-related activities (10%). Those tall mugs of coffee have helped as well. If you haven't already figured it out, final exam period has hit post secondary institutions and we undergrads are all cramming to get our stuff together. I have one exam tomorrow and another on Wednesday; after those two, I am FINITO. As in, DONE ALL UNDERGRAD COURSES. I just have to complete one more semester in the fall to complete my Honours degree and I will be finally free from school (until I take furthering education courses for technical know-how, sigh). More good news: I got a huge bonus pay cheque today so I am more than ready to go crazy shopping in San Francisco, which is a little more than two weeks away, and to indulge in some post-exam retail therapy tomorrow!
For today's outfit, I turned on the brights in the most random manner. I was planning to wear something completely different but ended up styling my outfit around these bright red heels. This bright blue and red combo is really hit-or-miss; I'll be positive and say it's a semi-hit. Also, I've had to wear glasses for the past week due to a mild eye infection so this will be a rare moment for everyone to see my 'geek chic' (if it can be called that...). Anyways, gotta get back to studying, best of luck to my fellow students and see you all on the other side for summer break!
