The Hunt Is On... For Great Fashion!

Have you ever seen a fabulous pair of shoes on some site like Pinterest or Tumblr but had no clue about how to find it for yourself? Or how to get the best deal on a particular party dress that you've been eyeing for ages? Or maybe you just don't know how to style that amazing necklace that for some reason or another doesn't seem to go with anything in your closet? Today I'm excited to tell you about this amazing new site called The Hunt. The Hunt is a community that tracks down the items you covet but don’t know where to find or how to style. The Hunt’s community is open to everyone. Any member can start their own hunt and solve other members’ hunts by adding finds.

Why you would want to begin a "Hunt":
1) Creating a designer look for less
2) Styling /completing an outfit
3) Finding similar products from a picture
4) Locating an exact product

Some members are simply passionate about The Hunt, often describing it as fun, rewarding, validating, and challenging. Those that solve particularly love earning "gems," "perfects" and getting thanks via comments. The community thrives on consistent give and take.

For myself, I had been looking for the perfect over-sized bauble necklace for what seemed like an eternity to pair with distressed blue jeans and a print sweater- a look I lusted after when I saw it on the blog FashionHippieLoves.

I also had been looking for an over-sized pearl necklace like this amazing piece worn by Krystin of Suburban Faux-Pas.

When I visited The Hunt’s website, I was prompted to join the hunt in two easy ways: Facebook or email.

After a quick and easy sign-up, I was immediately given several options by which I could upload images of the coveted items: uploading them from my desktop, through a URL link, Instagram, Pinterest, or Tumblr.

I then wrote a brief title and description about the pieces that I was looking for, my preferred price range, and choose which type of hunt I wished to begin (ie. "Similar to this," "This look for less," "What goes with this," "This exactly"). My search would then become visible to other members of The Hunt community, who would then begin searching for my particular item.

After about fifteen minutes, some kind stranger had already found me an over-sized white bauble necklace! Be sure to create a profile for yourself in order to better connect with other community members and to begin hunting for great "gems" for others to enjoy!

Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the efficiency and convenience of this site. Begin the Hunt yourself here!

Black and White with Brights

Shirt: Kenneth Cole via Winners // Pants: Club Monaco // Shoes: Zara // Bag: Nine West // Necklace: Joe Fresh
Hello everyone,
How was your rainy week? I am eagerly anticipating the return of warmer weather to our fine city. Until then, I'll have to make do with outfits that are a strange mix between spring and fall clothing- lots of layers for when it's cold and rainy, but just lightweight enough for the slightly warmer temperatures. I had a pretty great week since I had my first real work shift and I believe that it went quite well. Other than a few minor speed bumps at the beginning of the shift (the passwords that had been assigned to me for accessing crucial computer programs were all incorrect), I enjoyed myself thoroughly and really liked getting to know my lovely colleague much better. We discovered that we both love the same movies, TV shows, and books, such as Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones (books and the show), Breaking Bad- the list goes on. I'm still in disbelief that I've managed to so quickly attain such a great job working with such wonderful people. I love interacting with new people on a daily basis and in a stimulating manner, so this job is the perfect match for me!
In terms of this outfit, I wore this for my last day of work in my old job last Sunday. Initially, I was surprised to find that these Zara shoes were actually quite comfortable for heels at that height. It was only until after the shift that my feet started to majorly ache. As well, even though I've never been a huge fan of slacks or looser types of pants, I found that I quickly took to wearing these work-ready slacks as they are both classy and comfortable. Since I'm a self-proclaimed colour fanatic, I couldn't leave my outfit as a boring black-and-white; to remedy this dilemma, I added some colour with my bold orange heels and my neon Joe Fresh necklace. You like?

Style Inspiration: Olivia Palermo

From Day: Back to Black
Although the timeless elegance of Audrey Hepburn is the foremost influence on my personal style, I adore the effortless chic and feminine glamour of the beautiful Olivia Palermo. She always manages to look absolutely flawless and fashionable in every single snapshot I have seen of her. In regard to the above outfit, it was interesting to note that the LBD, long known as the perfect solution to the issue of cocktail party dress, can also be worn as part of one's daytime wardrobe. Just take a look at how Palermo paired her LBD with a white vest, bauble statement necklace, and cute gladiator sandals in order to create a comfortable yet incredibly stylish outfit for her daytime appearances.

Take a look at the collage below for some ideas on how to shop for a more affordable version of her outfit:

Dress: Topshop ($83)
Sandals: ShoeDazzle ($34.95)
Necklace: Olive + Piper ($34)
Vest: Forever 21 ($24.80)
Bag: ShoeDazzle ($35.15)

To Night: Flowy Florals
Rather than leaning on the little black dress as a crutch for your evening dress, why not try for something a bit more unusual? Break the mould by pairing two chiffon floral pieces together: a midi to maxi-length skirt and a blouse tied together with a black leather belt. Top off the outfit with a very sexy pair of stiletto cut-out heels and some killer arm candy.

How you can attain such a look:

Blouse: Zara ($59.90)
Skirt: Topshop ($195)
Heels: ShoeDazzle ($38.36)
Bag: ShoeDazzle ($36.76)
Cuff (top): Forever 21 ($7.20)
Bracelet: Ily Couture ($75)
Belt: H&M ($6.50)

As was mentioned in a previous post, I was recently asked to join in a sponsored campaign by ShoeDazzle to promote their line of fashionable and affordable shoes and handbags. ShoeDazzle, which is headed by the world-renowned stylist and fashion icon Rachel Zoe, offers a wide variety of footwear and purses in a manner that is tailored to your own personal preferences. Pink, Polka Dots, and Pops of Neon

Necklace: Joe Fresh // Peplum Tee: Dynamite // Blazer and Clutch: H&M // Bracelets: Tiffany & Co., Forever 21 // Shoes: Vince Camuto // Jeans: J. Brand
Yesterday I had the first Saturday off from work since San Fran and I must say that it was quite awesome to relax with a nice dim sum lunch and afternoon movie (Fast and the Furious 6). After that movie, the BF had a difficult time trying not to re-enact the street-racing scenes in real life even though he recently traded in the sports car for a more practical ride. I don't begrudge too greatly his slightly dangerous actions because, after all, everyone has to have some little fantasy to keep them going sometimes. ;) Also, I went on a slight pink overload with this blazer, top, and even my new iphone case (I couldn't resist a case that resembles a melting strawberry chocolate bar). And can you ever have too many polka dots in your wardrobe? Okay, I'm pretty sure that you can but let's just indulge my minor obsession for a little while longer. Lastly, I'm in love with the neon of this new Joe Fresh necklace. While I have many statement necklaces in my collection, I was surprised when I realized that I don't have any of these very popular crystal and neon pieces in my possession. They are absolutely perfect for the summertime and for pairing with any outfit you want to dress up.

ShoeDazzled: The Top 5 Heels You Need for Summer

If you're anything like me (and most North Americans), you've probably fantasized numerous times throughout the year about lying on a white sand beach under some shady palm trees while sipping on a delicious cocktail. While we may be subjected to dismal weather conditions while living in less tropical climes, there is an easy solution to putting yourself in a more cheerful mood for summer- shoes!

Recently, I was asked by the lovely staff at ShoeDazzle (via to join their sponsored campaign to promote their very desirable shoes and accessories. If you don't already know, ShoeDazzle is an online personal-styling site that uses innovative methods in order to provide you with fashionable and affordable footwear and accessories that will best suit your own style. While the company's founders include Brian Lee, Robert Shapiro, Kim Kardashian, and MJ Eng, ShoeDazzle's Chief Stylist is Rachel Zoe, a world-renowned fashion icon, designer, and stylist. ShoeDazzle carries their own brand as well as offering designer brands such as Chinese Laundry, Seychelles, Dolce Vita, Michael Antonio, and Beau+Ashe. They are constantly adding new brands that they know their clients will love!

As someone who is relatively new to the world of online-shopping, I'm often on the look-out for reliable and trustworthy sites to shop while navigating the often mind-boggling array of online stores. While ShoeDazzle won me over with its excellent selection of shoes and accessories, its extremely reasonable prices and many promotions were more than enough to seal the deal with this frugal fashionista. When you first visit the site, take a quick personalized quiz and you will be provided with a monthly showroom that is tailored to your unique taste and style preferences. After taking the quiz to gain access to your showroom, you can make a purchase within 2 days of taking the quiz and get 25% off your first item ordered. Click here to take the quiz and save!

Take a look at some of my summertime favourites below (you can also click on the collage to be taken to
1. Cindy by Madison: (down from $43.95 to $35.16) I think I might buy this pair for myself- the adorable stripes and playful colour combination are perfect for that night out on the town or for sipping margaritas while sitting at a beach-side patio.

2. McKinley: (down from $39.95 to $31.96) This dainty pair of laser-cut and cut-out heels are perfect for wearing to that fancy garden or beach party that you've been looking forward to attending. It is imperative that these shoes be paired with that adorable dress that you've been hiding in the closet all winter; it's time to break out of those cold seasonal blues and wear your brightest and prettiest pieces.

3. Anya: (down from $39.95 to $31.96) Charming and cute, these heels combine two of the hottest trends: kitten heels and nautical-themed prints. The perfect height to be comfortably worn in any venue and on any occasion, these anchor-patterned shoes are a summertime must-have!

4. Tayson by Michael Antonio: (down from $129.00 to $103.20) While I don't usually like to wear gigantic platforms (I prefer sleeker designs, such as stilettos), these turquoise chunky heels steal the show with their bold and breathtaking colour. As well, the genuine leather and metallic-enhanced banana heels are details that cannot help but make this the perfect showcase piece for your shoe closet.

5. Nilda by Madison: (down from $44.95 to $35.96) In addition to its eye-catching colour and attractive metallic accents, the comfortable yet cute heel design of these shoes make it an essential part of a beautiful and bright summer wardrobe.

Polka Dotted Suave

Shorts: J. Crew // Shirt: French Connection // Shoes: H&M // Blazer: Dynamite // Necklace: Ell and Em // Earrings: Front & Co.

Okay I'll admit it, I'm more than a little obsessed with this "Royal Ball" necklace that I recently bought from the online store Ell and Em. I find that the over-sized gold beads lend such easy chic, style, and charm to my everyday wardrobe and I find myself reaching for it over and over again. However, such repetition must be worth it, since I have received compliments aplenty on it- the latest being from the very sweet manager of the newest J. Crew store that opened yesterday in Pacific Centre. Part of my job entails getting to know the store managers within the mall, so it was nice getting to meet both her and her lovely staff (which includes a complimentary personal stylist). And I'm sure it was nice for them that I succumbed to these super cute polka-dotted shorts. I was also eyeing this amazing polka-dotted blazer; however, at the hefty price of $238, I felt that I couldn't justify such spending at the drop of a hat.

Oh and did I mention that I adore my new job so far? I love meeting new people and my job is all about being good at that. After the first couple days of training, I feel that I've gotten a good grasp of the many procedures that I'm obliged to carry out within my latest work position. However, it will probably take a few more shifts before I feel totally at home. So far, everyone I have met within the mall and in my workplace has been very friendly and charming so I look forward to my next shift! I think that the only downer of the job is that I'm required to wear a uniform (blazer/cardigan, dress pants, white shirt, and a silk scarf); in all of my previous jobs I was allowed to wear whatever I wished and, believe me, I took complete advantage of that freedom. Oh well, sacrifices must be made for better things!

Shades of Land and Sea

Blouse: Jacob // Necklace: Ell and Em // Skirt: Thrifted // Shoes: Aldo // Bracelet: vintage

Hello everyone,
Today I woke up bright gloomy and early for the first day of my new job. All in all, I had a wonderful first shift as my supervisor and colleague were wonderfully patient and kind while training me. My innate knowledge of the inner workings of the shopping centre in which I now work may have also helped a bit. So far, I am super excited to have started this new job working at as a Guest Services representative as it allows me to do one of the things that I love best: customer service.
In regard to this outfit, I managed to score this lovely silk skirt at a local thrift store recently. However, my laziness was main the reason for not ironing it, an omission that I currently am kicking myself for since it would have made a world of a difference in these pictures.
Anyways, hope that this upcoming week and weekend get better weather-wise as I have quite a few upcoming plans, such as an outdoor BBQ, that require some good ol' sunshine to make them enjoyable.

Clash of the Patterns

Blazer and shoes: H&M // Shirt: Forever 21 // Pants: Joe Fresh // Wallet: Ralph Lauren // Necklace: The Hudson Bay Company // Earrings: vintage
You know one of those days when you walk out of the house confident that you're wearing something nice but progressively feel less and less confident about the said niceness of that outfit? Well, today was one of those days. At first I loved the clashing patterns of the blazer and my new Joe Fresh pants. However, later on, I ended up taking off the blazer to make the ensemble less confusing and rolled up the hem of the too-long pants (short-Asian-genes problems).
I do, on the other hand, quite love this new wallet clutch of mine. After scoring my latest job, which I begin training for on Tuesday, I bought this little Ralph Lauren beauty as a small reward to myself (especially since I had been recently forced to use one of my mom's old wallets that randomly has a girl and the word "Mexican" inscribed on the front).
